CORPORATE STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

The strategic objectives of the NWDC are to:

  • Advise the MEC responsible for Economic Development on economic policies that will enable growth in the Province
  • Be the portal providing access to the services of the Corporation and economic development information relating to the Province, to the people of the North West Province and other interested parties
  • Establish strategic partnerships with both public and private sector institutions in order to draw on their relevant expertise and resources for the benefit of the manufacturing, trade and SMME sectors throughout the Province
  • Identify and initiate viable developmental projects in relevant industries within the Province, aligned to the PGDS strategy
  • Enhance the efficiency of the property portfolio and to grow it
  • Provide project management services to the Department
  • Facilitate access to business opportunities, financing and other resources to SMME’s in order to ready them for 2010 and beyond
  • Provide affordable infrastructure for SMME’s desiring to operate as small industries
  • Identify markets and strategic partners for SMME’s
  • Manage the disposal of all non-core functions in consultation with all stakeholders who are likely to be affected.
  • Encourage the redistribution of wealth in the North West Province.

 

OPERATIONAL STRATEGY TO GUIDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Short Term: Improvement of the financial position of the NWDC so that it can continue operating as a going concern.
  • Short and Medium Term: Full alignment of the business of the NWDC with the strategic objectives of the North West Provincial

Government, as outlined in the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PGDS) and informed by the terms of the shareholder’s compact and service level agreement.
